The Vatican
Ahh...evening has arrived and we are settled in for the night trying get a good nights rest as we plan to make tomorrow night a late one. Their is a cool sax player in the piazza every night and right now he is blowing that unforgettable tune from that George Michael song from the 80's, the name is escaping me at the moment...Careless Whisper, that's it.
Today we went to the Pantheon then the Vatican. Touring St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Museum and of course the Sistine Chapel. The kids enjoyed the various statues from antiquity and Tara really took to the Frescos on the ceilings and got a neck cramp looking at 'The Creation of Adam' by Michelangelo on the chapel ceiling. The kids took to this guy.
It is amazing how the time of day flies when thee is so much to see. The kids are really hanging in with us and have only really registered in the first quartile of the whine-o-meter a few times. We knew Rome was going to be a push and we are pushing. Soon we will be on the Italian Riveria relaxing out for a few nights before making our way to Venice via Pisa.
Our unedited, unrefined pile of Rome picks are HERE. Sorting out will happen sometime post trip.
