The Door etc.
Tomorrow, Monday May 14, we have the most interesting directions to our accomodations yet. In Rome and Venice we were met along the way and guided in. In Monterosso everyone we talked to knew exactly where we were staying and pointed us right to it. In Rovinj, Croatia we have been told to locate a well known site in town, then look for the door below. The man we are renting from said that he may be out of the country and will send his friend to meet us. When we asked for his phone number, just in case, the owner replied "why do you want his number, he does not speak the English". Let's see how that works out
Another thing that is really sticking with me is a brief encounter that we had with two elderly Chinese ladies. When they saw our girls picking out masks they grew very excited and asked if they might take pictures with Tara and Riley. It took me a second to figure out what was going on, but they but swapped cameras and each took pics with the kids. Now this obviously was not the first time they had seen Caucasian kids, but it may have been the first time the had seen two sisters. I am not sure as the language gap was great. With the one child policy in China and selective abortion, the only child almost always ends up male. Maybe these were two sisters themselves born before this barbaric policy was put into place. I pray that God will work mightily in that nation though the Christian movement that is growing daily despite, or maybe in response to, intense persecution.
