Ostia Antica
Rain rain go away... You get the idea. We did some replanning this morning due to the rain and decided to go to Ostia Antica today rather then later in the week. This was an interesting and nearby alternative to Pompeii which did not fit into the plan this trip. The kids had a great time exploring this complex, even though they were soaked. In fact Patti is blowing drying their shoes as I type this.
After Ostia we paid a visit to the Catacombs of Priscilla. No pictures allowed by order of the Pope. I asked twice so I am pretty confident that no pictures are allowed. This particular complex has 40,000 tombs and over ten miles of passage ways. This is a 4th century image of Jesus with a lamb on His shoulders and a sheep on His right and a Goat on his left. The man who snapped this picture was promptly drawn and quartered.
The kids were amazingly well behaved today considering they were running on fumes. I am thankful that we arrived and have seem to timezone adjust well.
