Beaching

Friday May 11 gave us our only full beach day on the trip.  There will be a few partial days to come in Croatia on the Adriatic Sea but this is the closest we will get to lazy on this journey.

I am writing this offline from the little garden in the back of the apartment we are staying in.  This is the most peculiar garden I have been in.  It is at the bottom of a 30 foot hole as you can see by the pictures.  I suppose you cannot ask for much more when your home is built on a steep oceanside hill.  We met the owner the other day and she explained that this was her home until the mudslides came and business stopped but the mortgage was still due.  Hopefully she will be able to move back in soon and we were glad to be a part of helping her keep her property.

To combat the evening chill, I purchased a wool sweater at the morning market for 10€, which is right in my price point.  The first thing I noticed was the smell, it was wool and probably a year old with all the odors to prove it, but betters cannot be choosers.  The next thing I noticed was what a big man I was.  In the states I come in comfortably at a small/medium, but in Italy I am a large/x-large.  Somebody supersized me.

Nothing eventful in this day and it is off to Venice tomorrow where I think we will be back in Internet-land.
