Screaming Kitties

Thankfully we made it, luggage and all, into the Lima international airport at 11:00 PM last night. After a little migrations form confusion, where we were supposed to write in section for official use only, were we on our way.  Actually, we wrote too little on one form and too much on another, and almost had to pay taxes on our luggage :-)

We spotted our driver with ease and followed him out to the machine. He had a little trouble getting the trunk open, like about a minute, which made me wonder if we would ever get it open again. The next day he took us back to the airport and after cramming Pattis pack in and hearing a marginal click of the trunk lock I noticed enroute the open door signal ablaze on the dashboard.  I was wondering what kind of speed bump her pack would make.

The driver was not insane, which seems to be our universal experience in the big 2nd and 3rd world cities.  I think it may have been because his car was just not fit to support any crazy moves which was evident when we were almost crushed in a roundabout when he stalled a bit.   Our driver did have a full roll of toilet paper on the dashboard which may have been for those times when he scared the doodoo out of his passengers.

Our accommodations appeared to be the tiniest that we have ever encountered until they handed us the keys to the other room a few minutes later.  Patti and Tara scored the hot but quiet room while Riley and I had the cool but screamy (sp) room. Let's just say the cats were in heat. It sounded like screaming babies on and off through the night. A little creepy.

Back to the airport where once again we lost a bag at the gate. This time it was being used a doorstop.
