I always liked the song El Condor Pasa by Simon and Garfunkel. Little did I know that that little ditty on the pan flute is something of a national musical treasure here in Peru. It seems to drift to the ear numerous times throughout the day. I am going to have to get out the vinyl when I get home and crank it up.

On some streets the address numbers climb on one side and descend on the other. That was confusing for a little bit.

Guinea Pigs play a significant part in the everyday life of Peruvians and Ecuadorians, as they reproduce rapidly and need a minimum of food and care to survive. They make for a high protein meal especially for populations living in high altitude.

In the shower, C is not cold but caliente, hot. The girls learned that the hard way.

When your hostel has and awesome soaker of a shower head and nice hot water, don't open your mouth mistaking that your are at home.

The Peruvian national napkin is a 4 inch square of single ply paper. Vastly insufficient for the tactilely defensive.

When eating what remains of the kids meals take care not to eat the meat that they found too chewy and discarded.
