Udaipur by Day
Sunday 1/6
Today we visited Udaipur and took in some of the sights via boat tour and also did our some good wandering through the city streets and the palace. This is said to be the Venice of India.
We visited an island palace on the lake which has a section which is also a hotel. Pretty sure it would cost almost our entire lodging budget to stay there but I bet their showers were the bomb.
I have really taken to the mirrored mosiac rooms that seem to be a common feature in Indian palaces. So far Patti is a no for our bedroom, but I am working on her.
The peacock is Indias state bird and you can find them depicted often and in a variety of mediums. This tail is of glass inlay and part of an intricate construction.
The temperatures in North India this time of year, mid-winter, have been great. We have not had a single drop of rain and only in some areas did we have some dense morning fog. We enjoyed the nearly constant smell of campfire as there often seemed to be a little fires burning in the street here and there with people huddled around.
Here is a shot from our rooftop table looking onto a few temples and the city palace.
Tomorrow morning we leave the cool of the North and head to the South. Gonna be a little warmer down there.
