Jaisalmer

Tuesday and Wednesday 1/1-1/2
We spent a few nights in Jaisalmer, the golden city.  With this stop we are at the Northwestern edge of our trip.  The greenery that we had in earlier days faded away as we made the drive out to the desert. This time, believe it or not, there was no visiting a fort, instead we stayed inside it's walls. These are the best accommodations we have had yet - showers that work with just a little patience, bedsheets that are not too dirty, free toilet paper, a great rooftop with great sunsets over the desert.

Here is some of the golden sandstone that gives the city it's color distinction.

Tara was honing her bargaining skills today.  She was able to bargain down a Rs250 difference to only +Rs50 above her starting price.  It was classic negotiation time with Tara. Near the end of the match the guy said "quit the jerk around", I had to turn away and have a laugh, Tara stoicly handled herself and the deal was struck.

We checked out a few sites here but mostly it was for some chill time away from the big cities, but that still did not stop the girls now hundreds of fans from getting even more selfies.

She also had a great time with Mukie the 'hotel boy' and his friend playing with all the Snapchat filters.  They were laughing so hard at themselves. Mukie is also our host, chef, room cleaner, and all around great kid tending to any needs we have in this two room homestay that family Huth completely booked out.

We had lunch today at the KB Cafe by the Patwon Ki Haveli after we took a tour.  A Haveli is a mansion and the one we toured had a taste of how the upper upper crust lived back in the day.  Seated near us was a 60 year old couple from Indiana that just recently sold their house and are now living in India no longer India-na.  One of the comments the couple made to Patti was about how furtunate Denver was to get Peyton Manning for a few years. Tara and I thought that was funny as Patti is astoundingly football illiterate.  We quized her afterward on some facts to which she replied - "Wasn't he a quarterback or something, the guy that kneeled and prayed all the time?".

Tonight we ate (are you catching the chill out and eat theme to this stop on our tour?) on our rooftop, but last night we ate on the rooftop you see behind Riley. We were chatting with Mukie and after some struggling and finally Google translate he was able to communicate that the kitchen was not clean, which we thought yesterday, but you know...none of the kitchens seem clean ;-) and who knows if there was not a little embellishment.

Here is the neighborhood cow, Bessie.  Bessie the begger.  We found her on our way back from the restaurant last night with her nose gently pushing open someone's door.  Next we see the door owner kindly shooing Bessie out.  Bessie repeats, the shooer repeats.  I have seen begging dogs before, but cows...
