iSpy - DC Day 2
Day two greeted us with nice temps and very light crowds as we made our way down to the Spy Museum. No pictures were allowed in this facility, unless you were a spy of course, so I csn only paint word pictures. It was as interesting as folks made it out to be. It is amazing and sad to see the number of ways that humans have devised to listen too, look at and kill people. The latest technology in the exhibit was cold war era with only a few video displays of modern cyber spying and terrorism.
There was a WWII section that was rolling a Donald Duck wartime cartoon. The whole thrust was to promote the early and accurate return of income taxes with the saying "your taxes to beat the axis". You might note that we do not hear appeals like that any more. War is costly in so many ways including monetarily. In our day the government simply borrows and then monetizes it's way out of earlier debt. It no longer needs the people's implicit, although coerced, consent to fund war through taxes.

Just across the street was the National Portrait Gallery were the girls posed with some of our nations earliest leaders. Also on display was a small collection of early patent submissions. Back in the days before intellectual property was submitted via computer, inventors had to submit scale working models. Some of these were pretty cool and others seemed like gross examples of over engineering. Take for example this 'better mousetrap' at which Patti commented "so what does one do with a box of live mice?". Heartless.
From there we made our way to lunch in the Native American Museum as we heard the food was very good there. The price reflected that, for instance a $22 lunch plate. So we made our way to the Air and Space Museum and ate the food of the future. That's right, McDonalds! It is a rare treat (hmm?) for the kids and we figure it is museum quality stuff.
There is way too much too look at here, as is true of all the other museums.
I thought this was cool...
...and the girls liked the food...
